The Female Subject

Lost in Velvet in a project that celebrates women, provokes critical thinking and confronts stereotypes of the Female Subject in contemporary photography.  Lost in Velvet project avoids creating images that overtly objectify, sexualise, demonise, and stereotype women. 

The project draw on historical, cultural, literary, philosophical and allegorical contexts to create striking photos that capture the Female Subject with dignity and respect.  Lost in Velvet goal is to promote an environment that fosters a sensitive and respectful approach to the Female Subject, to rebuild, restore and create a balance in the way the female gender is depicted in the world of photography.
